Pongal Special at Saffron Valley

Pongal/Sankranthi is the quintessential harvest festival of South Indian States of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh and a traditional occasion for giving thanks to nature, for celebrating the life cycles that give us our food.

A Tamil saying goes on that “Thai Piranthal Vazhi Pirakkum” meaning that when the month of Thai dawns there will be way of love, peace, harmony, prosperity, joy in everyone’s life.

In Tamil Nadu, the first day is called ‘Bhogi Pongal’, the second day ‘Surya Pongal’ and the third day ‘Mattu Pongal’. Keeping this age old Indian tradition alive at Saffron Valley we have created a special Pongal Weekend menu from Friday Jan 13th- Sunday Jan15th that is sure to bring back memories of Pongal/Sankranthi celebrations from your childhood.

Come dine with us and recreate Pongal/Sankranthi magic! Large groups welcome. Please call 801-438-4823 for reservations.
